The designer of this charming origami Bunny-Box, Jacky Chan (Hong Kong), calls it “Origami Little Rabbit Lantern”. It is made with one square of paper colored on one side and white on the other.
I first learned of this rabbit through this video where Jacky Chan shows how to fold it. He starts placing the paper with the color side up, resulting in a rabbit with colored body and white ears.
If you want to end up with a white rabbit with colored ears, as the ones in the photograph above, start with the white side up. The little rabbit is functional and very easy to fold.
I have subsequently made a video myself, which includes audio in English and subtitles in Spanish. Thank you Jacky for your permission to share your delightful rabbit in this video.

Don’t wait for Easter to fold it, but be careful with rabbits…
they do tend to proliferate!

Is anybody can send me the instruction to fold this Origami Bunny-box?
Appreciate the most if someone could help me!
Thanks!
The video to fold it is right within this post. Please watch it. :)
I folded it. It’s pretty easy. The lock inisde the bunny box was the hardest. I watched the video 4 times before understanding it! Good luck!
THIS IS GOOD AND FUN
Hi, Leyla,
Thank you for posting this. With lots of pauses, I was able to successfully fold this very cute model. Kay Eng taught it at Folding Sunday yesterday at the AMNH, but I missed it and could not wait to get home and try folding from the video.
Hy Candace,
This is a nice little container and very appropriate for these days. I’m glad you were successful folding it.
Awesome bunny box. Made me giggle when I was done folding him. What a great Easter egg basket. Thanks for posting.
lovely little bunny and a nice give away
thanks Leyla
Ahh! Took me forever but I finally finished! Phew! This took me longer to fold than eating lunch! But it was worth it!
Good for you, you should be proud, congratulations!!!
I made four since yesterday, One to try the design, one for each of my daughters and a tiny one out of a post it note. YES they do tend to proliferate. Greetings from Greece
So cute!! I used pretty Japanese folding paper and it turned out SO CUTE!! The video tutorial is great (I found that the space bar will pause and restart…who knew?!)
So very cute & clever, but…Ack! I cannot stand instructional videos! I followed the video & made 1 rabbit box, but this is not something I can easily remember every step for – much prefer a portable, printable diagram, so I don’t have to sit & watch a video every time I want to make this….
I agree with you, I prefer portable diagrams too!!! Unfortunately I don’t have any.
You might want to make yourself some step folds, so that you can remember.
WOW! these things to multiply!!!
So cute and easy to make…..after some practice that is.
Thx for sharing!
Yes, it requires some practice but it can be done. Congratulations for making it!
Are there any voice instructions as he folds? I can’t hear anything and my volume is way up.
Sorry Alison, what we see is what we get. Be patient and follow carefully. It can be done!!
couldnt get any of it
neither can I … it’s impossible =(
Hi!
I just wanted to thank you for such a great tutorial, and to show you what I’ve made – big life-sized rabbits and placed them in my garden (only to take the photos – not left them there, they would eat all my plants! hee hee!)

Happy Easter and best wishes

Thank you for sharing the photos. The yellow rabbits look great in the garden!
Thanks Leyla! You’re welcome, I’m glad that you like them!
Best wishes, Joey
Thanks for the video instructions! I made 45 of these for Easter for our family dinner and for people at work. I used polka dotted origami paper and filled the rabbits with grass and Easter chocolate eggs. I also glued a small white pom pom for its tail. Everyone loved them!
Hi Annette, it sounds like you had a lot of fun! If you post photos of your rabbits somewhere in the internet, please share the link here. I’d love to see them!
They look like bunny slippers. This is So much better than the blow up bunny.
Great tutorial! Love it, thanks for sharing
Adorable!
is there supposed to be sound with this? If so, I am not getting it for some reason.
No, there is no sound with this. Just follow it and stop and go back whenever you might not understand. It’s is matter of observation skills here.
What size paper do you need to start with for the larger bunny?
I think I folded them with 6×6 inch paper -15x15cm
thanks for uploading, its intertesting.
