In another post I\u2019ve featured a <a href=\"\/es\/?p=26990\">cross for Easter made with a long palm frond<\/a>. The cross presented here is made with a square piece of paper.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/mehjg\/sets\/72157623426784598\/\">Matthew Green<\/a> (USA-Mexico) is the talented designer of this origami cross.<\/p>\n<p>This origami cross model can be made for holidays like Easter, the &#8220;Day of the Holy Cross\u201d, the &#8220;May Cross&#8221;, celebrated on May 3rd in many parts of Spain and Hispanic America.<\/p>\n<p>In a future post I will present another of Matthew&#8217;s origami cross variations together with recollections my mother related to me of her memories of the May Cross celebration in Bogot\u00e1, when she was just a small girl.<\/p>\n<p>The following step-by-step video shows how to make one of the versions of the cross. It could be a lovely gift to a friend who does celebrate these holidays and the folding process is delightful and satisfying.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tips and suggestions for making the origami cross<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Thin, crisp paper is ideal to use for this origami cross. In the video the cross is demonstrated using thin kami paper, known in the U.S. as \u201corigami paper\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>Other papers \u2013gift-wrapping or office are also suitable.<\/li>\n<li>Use a piece of paper at least 6\u00d76 inches (15x15cm.) when first learning the model.<\/li>\n<li>Only one side of the paper shows in the front.
