Paula Versnick, from Holland, created a two-fold Santa which is considered a modern classic model. With its minimalistic elegance, this is one of my all-time favorite origami models.
The photo above shows a Christmas card I designed a while ago incorporating Paula’s charming model.
- The card itself is made by cutting an 8.5×11 (US Letter size) piece of paper in half, then folding it in half again.
- The trees are made out of kite bases.
- The smaller tree is crowned with an Avery® Foil Star sticker (found in the US at stores such as Staples or Office Depot).
- The British Origami Society has posted a nice video showing how to make the two-fold Santa (Thanks!).
Hello-ho-ho, Leyla!
I agree! This, in addition to your St. Nicholas Origami, is now one of my all-time favorites! The purity of its simplistic design perfectly symbolizes the purity and simplicity of the Christmas message. Thanks to you and Paula, and a Happy Christmas to All!
p.s. I’m wondering, how did you match one of the trees to the envelope lining? Did you fashion the envelope as well?
Hi Sharon,
For the matching envelope I cut and added a piece of paper to a white envelope ;-)
mas liiindooo…
Surprise!
