A few years ago I had a creative origami exchange with the late Simon Andersen. He liked The Abundance Hen origami model I had designed, and based on that model, Simon created some ingenious variations.
Simon sent me a model featuring twin hens made with a rectangular piece of paper. Since the HEN as a topic for origami design has been dear to me, I was inspired to create the Mama Hen and Baby Chick model.

Tips and suggestions for making the Mama Hen and Baby Chick
- Thin and crisp paper such as kami (used in the video) is perfect for the Chick and Hen.
- When folding this figure for the first time, use a piece of paper about 8 x 8 inches (20 x 20 cm.)
- This is a flat model suitable for greeting cards.
