Christine (Tine) Blasek is an origami designer of lovely modular and single-sheet pieces who shares her work through her blog, Kalami.

Tine describes herself as a child of the eighties. She grew up in northeast Germany and had her first contact with origami at about nine, when she received a book of origami instructions as a Christmas present.

At first, origami was one of Tine’s many hobbies. In the late nineties, when access to the internet became available, she learned about all the different styles of origami and discovered a huge worldwide community of origami enthusiasts.

One of the first websites Tine found was hosted by Alex Barber. On his site, she spotted a version of the Kawasaki Rose and she was hooked.

One thing led to another, and Tine bought her first non-German Origami books – Origami for the Connoisseur and Unit Origami by Tomoko Fuse.

Tine attended her first German origami convention in 2009 along with Anja Markiewicz. That same year, they founded an Origami group in Potsdam. It was then that she designed and diagramed her first models.

In 2010, Tine started her Origami blog, Kalami. She also joined Flickr and discovered an active Origami community.
