Joel Stern – Teacher & Origami Book Author

Joel Stern has been one of our featured guests on Origamigos, the Origami Spirit Membership. Joel is a native of Omaha, Nebraska, and has enjoyed origami since his childhood. He has authored numerous books on origami and pop-ups, including In a Spooky Haunted House, Simon & Schuster, 2020; My First Origami Animals Kit, Tuttle, 2020; My First Origami Fairy Tales Kit, Tuttle, 2019.

Joel’s paper creations have been exhibited in the United States, Japan, Brazil, and Israel. He has received awards and recognition from Creative Child Magazine for books published by Tuttle including Origami City Kit (2017), Origami Zoo Kit (2016), and My First Origami Kit (2013).

Joel conducts origami workshops for all ages in galleries, libraries, schools, and camps that incorporate storytelling, demonstrations, puzzles, and games. He is the coordinator of Pacific Ocean Paperfolders (POP), an international group of origami enthusiasts that meets online every month.
