In Colombia, these leaf-cutter, winged ants are considered a delicacy and are either fried or roasted for consumption, an old tradition inherited from the Guanes, a pre-colonial culture. Some believe Hormiga Culona is an aphrodisiac and gift the ants as a wedding present.

Tips and Suggestions

  • Suggested Paper: Kami is good for learning it. Tissue foil is ideal
  • Suggested Color: Black or other ‘antish’ looking color
  • Suggested Paper: When folding for the first time, begin with a large square 8 x 8 inches (20 x 20) and fold it in thirds.
