Easy Origami Swan Dish -Use it for Many Festive Occasions!

This swan dish is the perfect example of versatile and easy origami. It will take you just a couple of minutes to make, and it can be used on different festive occasions!

Filled with miniature chocolate eggs it is the perfect model for Easter.

Because swans mate for life the swan is a symbol of loyalty in marriage, making it a perfect decoration for a wedding or anniversary table! The swan also symbolizes peace, tranquility, grace, and strength.

This origami swan is a design by Laura Kruskal a prolific creator of delightful and easy origami models. Thank you Laura for granting me permission to present your model here.

Tips and ideas to make your origami swan dish

  • Use a square piece of paper. 6 x 6-inch (15 x 15 cm) is an ideal size to learn it.
  • Thin paper like “Kami” –known in the US as “origami paper” works well.
  • Office paper works too.
  • The paper can be a different color on each side, or the same color on both sides.
  • If you use paper with a different color on each side –for example, white on one side and blue on the other, start with the white side up for a blue swan.
  • Use the model during festive traditional or personal occasions such as Easter, a children’s party favor, a wedding, or an anniversary.
  • Make more than one origami swan. At first, your swans might look like little ugly ducklings, but making several of them will add to your paper-folding skills, and they will all turn out to be quite beautiful and graceful!

  1. Thanks for sharing Laura’s origami swan. Such sweet models she shared with us. I’m so glad I took her class at the origami USA convention.

  2. Our little HoCo Origami club in Marylamd, folded this model and the star box. Since we were in a dining area of our local Wegmans grocery store, our momigami, Marilyn Brown, dashed downstairs, bought jelly beans n chocolate eggs, so we had big smiles all around as the folders filled the boxes and wings with candy. Thanks, Leyla!
