How to Make an Origami Angel

Do you need a special origami angel as a Christmas decoration or as part of a Nativity scene? Do you want a lovely hand-made gift for someone special?

This delightful origami angel, creation of Fabián Correa (Colombia), joins the Christmas-related origami collection presented here on Origami Spirit. In other post posts you will find how to make figures for a Nativity Scene: Joseph and his staff, Mary and the baby.

You can also find a delightful Santa Claus, stars and ornaments for your Christmas tree or holiday home decor.

If you are new to origami, I encourage you to watch the video and try the angel. But it would be best if you develop your paper folding skills first by making some easier origami figures.

Here is the video tutorial to make this origami angel. Thank you Fabián Correa for giving permission to present this lovely model.

  • In the video the angel is demonstrated using thin kami paper, known in the U.S. as “origami paper”.
  • I found that the best papers for this angel should be soft and somewhat flexible. A Japanese paper called “Ginburi Chiyogami Washi” is ideal.
  • Use a piece of paper 6×6 inches (15x15cm.) to make your origami angel.
  • For a striking effect and different color wings, the colors of each side should be different.
